How To... : How to roll a joint
- Break up your pot
into pieces no bigger than 1/16" (if it's dry, crumble it loosely.)
Don't break it up into "dust", like the shake at the
bottom of your bag - very small nuggets is the goal here. If your fingers
start to get sticky, you lucky dog, you're ruining your bud.
- As you're breaking
up the bud, take the time to pick out even the little stems. Hold small
nuggets from the bottom, and strip the bud outwards and down off the stem.
- Roll the joint pretty
tightly (practice with cigarette tobacco a few times - let the tobacco
spill everywhere as you roll.) If you broke up your bud well, it won't
matter if you roll your joint loosely, but you're better off aiming for
tight.
- Light up the joint
from the front. Not somewhere underneath the front of the joint, but from
the actual pointy tip of the joint.
- Smoke away, but DON'T
RUSH IT. If you feverishly puff and puff away, the small nuggets in your
joint won't burn evenly and slowly. Smoke it slow and enjoy. If it starts
to burn unevenly, you didn't break your pot up into fine enough pieces.
Don't try to fix it, unless you've got a big problem.
- As you pause between
hits, your joint will either go out or will keep billowing away smoke,
depending mostly on how well you broke up your pot. But, a well-rolled
joint's glowing tip will simply subside into burned ash, and your pot
will not vanish away into thin air.
Underneath
the ash, the pot continues to burn and the joint stays lit, but very slowly
- there might not even be any visible smoke at all.
Of course,
you're always better off smoking from a bong. Smoke which is filtered through
water has much lower quantities of the tars, resins, and carcinogens that
give pot smoke most of its harmful effects. But joints are so tasty. We love
them.
And,hey,
no smoking from anything made of aluminum, fimo (sp?) clay, PVC plastic tubing,
copper, or human limbs.
Remember
to take your time!! Dont rush it or it will show. Just like anything else
in life, It takes practice!! Soon enough you will have it down to an art form!
